Celebrating International Women’s Day with EXCEL and EE Game Changers Team

In 2022, EE in partnership with EXCEL ESPORTS set out an ambition to focus on inclusivity in esports. To nurture the next generation of women in gaming and to help reshape the industry for the better. Since then we have worked incredibly hard together to achieve this ambitious goal and are proud to have signed our female VALORANT roster as part of this initiative.

To celebrate International Women's Day, EXCEL ESPORTS and EE caught up with our female VALORANT team and asked them for some words of wisdom that could empower other women interested in esports.

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is #EmbraceEquity The aim is to ask ourselves ‘Why equal opportunities aren't enough’, and recognise that people start from different places and true inclusion and belonging requires action without prejudice.

At EXCEL ESPORTS we recognise the importance of offering equal opportunities for all and creating safe spaces to allow marginalised groups to flourish at their full potential. With EE, we have signed our all-female VALORANT roster to empower our players to reach the highest level of competition and inspire the next generation of female players. However, there is more that needs to be done and EXCEL ESPORTS with EE will work tirelessly to achieve this goal.

Here are the Game Changers players, embracing themselves and all women around the world with a message for International Women’s Day:

“Strong women: may we look up to them, may we aspire to be them, and may we inspire them.”
Cornelia ‘Neli’ Johansson
"Every woman's success should be an inspiration to another. We're at our strongest when we cheer each other on."
Camille ‘Luzia’ Millet
“Who said women don't know how to game? They’ve been playing men for years.”
Safaa ‘Purii’ Baydi
"If your actions create a legacy that inspires other women to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then, you are an excellent leader."
Daniela 'Jupi' Gradl
"Behind every successful woman is a substantial amount of coffee and a good gaming setup."
India ‘cataLina’ Dubourg
“Don't let anyone tell you what you can't do. You have the power to prove them wrong and exceed all expectations. The only limits are the ones you place on yourself.”
Samantha ‘Samsi’ Caddell
“The ambition of EE’s partnership with EXCEL is to promote an inclusive culture within the gaming community. On International Women’s Day, it’s an opportunity to celebrate the work we do nurturing and supporting women in gaming. We truly believe each of the talented and passionate professional players on EXCEL’s female Game Changers roster will make a real difference in the industry, and help to inspire the next generation of female gamers.”
