British competitive gaming culture brand EXCEL ESPORTS is excited to announce its entrance into the burgeoning VALORANT competitive scene with the signing of 7x Ignition Series Champion and rising star David "Davidp" Prins who will be the team's captain. The announcement marks EXCEL’s first expansion title since its major brand update in November where it outlined its ambition to forge a unique path driven by performance while incorporating purpose.

As part of its first steps into VALORANT, EXCEL has chosen to prioritise selecting a team captain and coaching staff in order to build a roster that will have the infrastructure and performance support to compete at the highest level. Through its strategic and data driven approach, EXCEL has been hosting player trials which utilise both personality and performance tests, in order to identify players and coaches that both align with its competitive goals and the Power of Better vision.

As the first member of the VALORANT roster, Captain David "Davidp'' Prins joins EXCEL from G2 Esports where he was part of a dominating roster which won all seven Ignition Series in Europe including the likes of BLAST Twitch Invitational, Vitality European Open and WePlay! Invitational. Davidp will use his vast knowledge and experience to help grow and drive the roster forward as it sets its sight on competing in the VALORANT Champions Tour later in the year.

“Ever since VALORANT was first announced we knew it was going to be a title with huge potential and one that we could thrive in. However when it came to expansion we really wanted to take our time and find players and coaches that aligned with our vision so when we started talking to Davidp it felt like such a natural fit. We have big ambitions and are looking for the best and most promising talent to build out the roster and create a lasting legacy,” said Kieran Holmes-Darby, Co-Founder & Chief Gaming Officer, EXCEL ESPORTS

“I am really excited to have found a home with EXCEL ESPORTS. Since starting my journey in VALORANT I have showcased my ability to not only win trophies but grow and adapt my playstyle. I can’t wait to show everyone what we can achieve,” said David "Davidp" Prins
